Hydrogen uptake during active CO2-H2S corrosion of carbon steel wires in simulated annulus fluid

The hydrogen uptake of five carbon steel wires exposed to a corrosive CO2/H2S environment where protective film formation was not favorable measured. uptakes decreased with the accumulation retained carbide for most materials. It is assumed that adsorbed on carbides at some distance from ferrite will easily diffuse steel, hence giving beneficial effect. This effect observed material lowest content. Apart this material, increased content, probably due trapping ferrite-cementite interfaces.
